Babies born quicker than the time specified is more known as premature and small stature has a chance to have autism five times greater than normal babies, according to a study of the United States for two decades.
Premature babies have long been known to have a risk of health problems and cognitive delays, but research in the journal Pediatrics is the first time linking the relationship between weights at birth in infants with autism. Circumstances at birth and gestational age influence brain development when it was born.
U.S. researchers studied 862 children from birth to young adulthood. Those in the study were born between 1984 and 1987 in three areas in New Jersey. The babies weighed between 500 and 2,000 grams (1.1 to 4.4 pounds) at birth. Over time, five percent of babies born with low weight was diagnosed with autism, compared with one percent prevalence in the general population.
"At the time of survival of babies with low weight improved, disruption of the survivor’s gives new challenges in public health," said lead author Jennifer Pinto-Martin, director of the Center for Autism, Disability and Epidemiology at the School of Nursing University of Pennsylvania.
"Cognitive problems in children with autism may cover autism," he said. He urged parents to bring their child to the hospital to get a test when suspected of having autism spectrum disorder autism. "Early intervention improve long-term results and can help children both at school and at home.". If you get a quick handling of expected effects of the disorder can be minimized.
Autism is a term for a variety of conditions ranging from poor social interaction to the repetitive behaviors and excessive silence. The condition is rare, especially infecting the children of men, and the cause is still being debated. Apparent reason until now still cannot be found so early prevention would be the best action.
